Last day of summer...ever

Today's the last day of summer for me, and the last summer I'll have, as next summer will be spent in rotations and then I'll be in the workforce every subsequent summer. So what do I choose to do? Well I'm watching the Rangers v. Red Sox game. No big plans for the day, just hanging out at my apartment.

Syllabi are up for my classes, so I've been reading those and noticed that October will be a busy month. I have a final right before ASU's homecoming, which I'm planning to attend, and 2 the week after. The next weekend is NCPA's Annual Convention in New Orleans, LA, and I have already registered, so I am going. That will be a busy 2 weeks though!! Good thing I'm off rotation so I'll have all day long to study for those exams!

Here's to the beginning of a new year, and 1 step closer to graduation!

last friday of summer

Well well, again long time no update...

This summer I was in Big Spring, working at Prescription Services, Inc., which is a closed door pharmacy, part of the Leonard's family of independent pharmacies. It was a great experience. I went in every day and mixed up drugs, who could ask for a better job, lol. I made a bunch of different creams, lotions, ointments, capsules, and sterile medications. I made injectable medications as well as IVs, eye drops, ear drops, nebulizer medications, etc.

Other than that, I went on a couple of vacations. A jeep trip to Utah and Colorado, which was amazing. We had a lot of fun and logged 2,000 miles total for the trip! I flew to Colorado to meet the family for vacation and visit with all the family, lol. On the way back home, we stopped in Rocky Ford to visit dad's family. My uncle was excavating the basement, and I volunteered to help out - I got to drive the tractor, it was great.

Last but not least...a trip to Dallas to go to a Rangers game and catch up with all my ASU buds! We had a great weekend and a good visit. I can't wait for Homecoming when we will catch up again!

My last day of work was last Friday, and I've been in Amarillo since then trying to get ready for school, which starts on Monday! Along with that, my first rotation starts Monday morning at 7:45 am! I'm a little nervous!!

Now, what am I going to do for my last weekend of summer??

First in a LONG time

Ok, so I realize that I am bad at keeping up with people, during the school year, especially...but I didn't realize just how bad until I was reading Michelle's posts....and realized I hadn't read any this entire semester. There is no excuse for that! Must work on it and keeping in better touch with friends!

In other news...

This morning at 11:00-ish am I finished my last final as a P2!!! It was a wonderful feeling. An even better feeling came this evening when I checked my grades and found out I made a 93 on yesterday's test...yay for salvaging the grade in that class! Had me kind of worried after I failed the first test...been a LONG time since I've done that! (not a good feeling either - especially when the course team leader tried to make me feel like an idiot when I went to talk to him about it...lost a lot of respect for him that day).

Hmm...other news from today..I tried mole...the mexican dish with chocolate, paste made from peppers, etc and chicken in it. Brenda's mom is in town helping Brenda pack up and move her stuff to Dallas and offered to cook lunch for Brenda's friends...such a nice mom! So she made us mole, which was really good by the way, rice, tamales...and some AMAZING bread...made with Bisquick (1 ingredient...the best flour/mix product ever!)

Today has been a very exciting day...the P2 celebration day, pretty much. So after the test and lunch, etc. I made my way to some friends' house to play washers...and lo and behold who do I find on the front porch when I pull up...some of the guys chatting up a couple of Mormons. This was the last thing I expected to see today, so I walk up and Zubin announces "hey, Sarah's religious...lets get her in on this" or something to that effect...this was a first time experience for me. Now, I was unsure exactly what Mormons believe, so I was just listening for a while, but then started asking questions as well. The result...Not sure I'm any clearer on what they believe, but Zubin has some crazy questions stored up in his brain...one of these days we'll have to have a discussion about religion/beliefs/etc...when he hasn't been drinking...

I played my first ever game of washers today...I can see how it can be addicting! My goodness...it was twilight when we were playing, so it was hard to see what was going on, but I can see how people can play for hours. Who would have thought that sinking a metal ring into a hole in the ground would be such a hit? (My team lost by the way...oh well...better luck next time)

I also beat Sadra at darts...took us a while, and technically didn't finish the game, but I was way ahead...all I lacked was the bulls eye. This may sound odd, but the game was getting the dart in each section in number order...from 1 to 20 then hitting the bulls eye...well i had 1-20, and was way ahead of Sadra, so we just called the game...then she and Steven promptly beat Truett and I at washers...so it all worked out :)

for those of you troopers who have made it this far...1 last comment... the end of P2 year brings with it separation from 3/4 of the class...since many are deploying to Dallas and Lubbock campuses to complete their 3rd and 4th years...with as many times as I've moved/said goodbye to people...it never gets easier... this week has been a blessing in that P2 year is over! (yay) and has been tough to say farewell to some good buddies...

peace...i'm out.
